Second-seeded Svetlana Kuznetsova became the latest casualty at the Zurich Open when right shoulder injury forced her to retire from her quarter-final match with Italy’s Francesca Schiavone when trailing 3-6 3-3.

Fortunately, according to what Kuznetsova said her injury is not severe: “It’s not that serious, I just need some time off because the muscle was getting very tired and I couldn’t lift my arm up.”

Out of eight seeded players that were there at the beginning of the Tier I tournament, only top-seeded Justine Henin and ninth-seeded Marion Bartoli are left. (source: Reuters)
