Retrospection of all Samantha Stosur’s Lacoste outfits in 2011

After Adidas by Stella McCartney, Nike, Adidas Barricade and EleVen, let’s see what Lacoste designed for tennis players in 2011, on the example of their most famous representative, Australian Samantha Stosur.

The 27-year-old Stosur had a stellar season highlighted by the US Open trophy, but how successful her year was from a fashion perspective? The highest ranked Lacoste representative changed only a handful of dresses during the season, staying faithful to her unexperimental designs.

When you compare these 2011 clothes with Lacoste from 2010, you will see that even colors haven’t changed much: red/orange, white and black are still predominant. Only that the detailing of the three small buttons was abandoned for the 2011 designs, which welcomed stripes for spring and summer.

My absolute favorite of the season is the US Open Lacoste Women’s Fall dress, a nice combination of navy (looking like black), ultraviolet purple and white. The other version of the dress is having a purple side stripe, black chest and the rest is white. You can see it here on Dominika Cibulkova.

Are you a fan of Stosur’s Lacoste? Do you like her in classic orange and red designs or do you see her in more versatile color combinations and cuts? I believe Stosur should stick to classic outfits, but I think that non-reddish colors would better fit her hair and complexion, but that’s just my taste. 1. I love Lacoste’s design, but I wish she had wore more outfits, like this it’s a bit boring. My favorite is the dress she wore in AO open and numerous other tournaments xD

  2. My personal favorite is the Cibulkova version of the Fall dress. But I like the darker one too. Sam should indeed stick with classic outfits, ruffles and ribbons wouldn’t fit her 🙂 But, I do think Lacoste could be a bit more experimental in the designs.. It’s all the same base concept, with other finishes (buttons, no buttons, color).

  3. Dusan, there will definitely be more retrospections this off-season, just stay tuned! 😉 In the meantime, feel free to dig through the archives, there’s plenty of interesting retrospections: https://womenstennisblog.com/retrospections-of-wta-players-yearly-outfits/

Mirjana, Liz, I like classic looks on Stosur, but even within the classic range Lacoste could experiment more, like Adidas Barricade for example. I see the US Open dress is the perfect direction to take.

  4. Hey Marija, thank you for your advice to take a look of your older retrospections. They are great. May i suggest you to make retrospection of Bethanie Mattek-Sands outfits? 🙂
