Garcia ends Bouchard’s wonderful week in Acapulco

World No.89 Caroline Garcia produced the biggest surprise of the Abierto Mexicano TELCEL in Acapulco by taking out second seed Eugenie Bouchard 3-6 6-4 6-1 in the quarterfinals. Before this week, Garcia had never been to a WTA quarterfinal (and now she’s in semis!), she had never beaten a Top 40 player, let alone Top 20, and she was actually on a ten-match losing streak prior to the tournament.

The 19-year-old Bouchard will luckily have many nicer memories to remember this trip to Mexico for.

The Canadian enjoyed refreshing in the ocean after practice and a wonderful photoshoot on the beach.

And who was her opponent? None other than Maria Sharapova’s man Grigor Dimitrov.

Birthday - Bouchard

But most importantly, during her stay in Acapulco Bouchard stopped being a teenager! On February 25th, she turned 20. (photos via Bouchard’s Twitter)
