Maria Sharapova served five double faults in her first two service games and a total of seven in the match, hit zero aces, but still she managed to brush aside Julia Goerges 6-1 6-4 in the second round of Indian Wells, without even facing a break point. The fourth-seeded Russian, playing her first match in over a month, won 88% of points when her first serve was in (100% in the first set!).
The victory was stylish as well, as Sharapova took to the courts her high-waisted printed skort with perforated elastic waistband and the light blue Nike tank featuring a racerback with keyhole cutout and perforations. Both the items are available at Tennis Warehouse for $65.
Serena Williams tweeted her admiration of Sharapova’s spring look.

Sharapova is the only played in the 2014 BNP Paribas Open field who has won the title multiple times (in 2006 and 2013). Daniela Hantuchova was another such player in the field, with her 2002 and 2007 Indian Wells titles, but she exited to Varvara Lepchenko in the second round on Thursday.
By the way, did you know who’s Sharapova’s favorite male tennis player? Her boyfriend, Grigor Dimitrov! She said that during a Q&A at La Quinta.
Love this outfit, my favourite of the tournament. Great color combinations & really modern with a bit of an edge.. the high waist suits Maria’s tall, lean figure.
I love this outfit 😀 in my opinion is much better than her australian open 🙂 it is rumoured she will wear this for miami http://i59.tinypic.com/2myn94w.jpg ! even though i was a bit tired of her constant grey skirts i like this combination with the yellow top 🙂
I loved the outfit!! Nice to see her wearing something a bit more out there… a good change! Her tennis was patchy, but hopefully she’ll get to raise her level as the tournament progresses.
