The Roger Pro shoe

Believe it or not, Women’s Tennis Blog has been with you for seven years! When I started blogging I was, hmmm, let me count, a 22-year-old student, still living with my parents. Here’s my first photo from the blog’s “About” page that I’m sure most of you don’t remember 🙂

Marija Zivlak

Every year on the occasion I share the story of how much Women’s Tennis Blog has contributed to my life and what are the things I achieved as an author here, so this time I will skip that. However, I can’t skip to thank all of you who continue to stick around for years, who constantly support me and appreciate my work here. As my gesture of appreciation for all of you who enjoy reading my articles, I would like to invite you to join my birthday giveaway supported by a wonderful luxury tennis and golf clothing brand – L’Etoile Sport.

L'Etoile Sport - Blouson dress - model

I’m sure you’ve heard of L’Etoile Sport, I’ve written about them several times, and now you have a chance to win their Blouson dress! It is one of the brand’s original designs, that has carried through every season as choice to both look good and feel good while playing. It is popular amongst all age groups. It comes in all-white, white with poppy, white with teal, logo with white. The version of the dress that they will certainly have available is all-white, but if you choose a different color and they happen to have it in your size, you will get that one.

  1. Hey! Congratulations on your 7th anniversary! I discovered this blog 3 years ago or so… Basically it was me surfing the net searching for someplace to read about tennis. (My friends think I talk too much about tennis, but i don’t think that’s true :)) and I found you!!! I fell in love immediately with this page…I mean who wouldn’t? I guess when you share love for tennis it’s hard not to. 🙂 as long as you continue posting, I’ll keep reading 🙂 thank you!

  2. Adriana, oh lovely answer! I’m often amazed by people’s impressions about my blog. It’s nice to hear that you’ve been with be for three years, it’s a long period.

I’m wishing you good luck in the contest! 😉

  3. I first found your blog through Google and Twitter (very boring). I bookmarked it but didn’t read it often, until I saw Tony (@Pennettafan) comment regularly on your posts on Twitter. Tony and I ran into each other on Twitter as we shared our two faves, and as he commented on your tweets, I started opening the links and reading your blog more often and found myself enjoying it. So, thanx Tony!

And this has nothing to do with the question, but I wanted to add that I really enjoy your series (as you may have noticed;)), and I like how you focus on different aspects of tennis life, plus that you don’t show favouritism like some other blogs!

  4. Linda, wow I didn’t know that! I know Tony, he even sent me some photos from tournaments! Thank you for such nice words about my work here 🙂

  5. Less than 7 years ago, my friend told me that she has started writing a blog about women’s tennis and that I can check it on this address 🙂 Since than I’ve been following this blog, sometimes commenting, entering competitions (never winning 😉 but never giving up), supporting her, listening and understanding.

  6. My wife told me about this blog almost 2 years ago. I like what you do and how you write. Keep up the good work!

  7. I too discovered your CITE about 3 yrs ago and yes I also have a live for Tennis……I started on TENNUS ADDICTS but there never seemed to be much interaction with other fans so I too went searching for a CITE with others who live and luv Tennis as much as I do…..I know u r constantly checking up on ur members as well as keep us in check….which is great because we know U care….ANS I love ur coverage of WTA FASHION…as well as the many photos u have posted of players ……win or loose this contest I’m glad u r here and do keep

  8. Congratulations Marija
We support your good work with a wish to continue so in the future. Your previous good work confirms nice readers’ comments.

    kisses from mum and dad

  9. Dobrila, you’re a living proof that I don’t cheat in these giveaways! 🙂

Ljuba, good luck in winning your wife a nice tennis dress as a surprise.

Anna Patterson, thank you for joining the giveaway. I’m glad to have you as a reader and a contributor in my Women’s Tennis Fans Facebook page.

Dxana, haha OK. And thank you for supporing my work.

Branko, hahaha thank you, dad! I’m always surprised when you leave comments on my blog 🙂

  10. Congratulations on your 7th anniversary!! I came to know about your blog through google. I was bored and wanted to read something related to tennis and I found your blog just amazing. I instantly bookmarked it, and I read it everyday.

  11. Congratulations on seven years, Marija! Women’s Tennis Blog has long been a go-to read for me. I especially enjoy your coverage of tennis fashion, and of course, the childhood photos are a treat. Mostly, it’s nice to have a Blogosphere pal like you. Love the new look.

  12. Marija congrats on your 7th anniversary! I came across your blog about 5 years ago when I was looking for baby pics of wta players (my fave is Sam Stosur, such a pretty little girl & yes I’m a biased Aussie!!) Love your interest in the fashion over the last 7 years, as well as the gossip on who dates who & who’s married to who etc – adds a different dimension to the normally boring statistics driven other blogs out there.. your site is like the soap opera of the wta ;o) unfortunately my unshaven legs & man shoulders wont compliment the lovely dress up for grabs so the latest mens edition of any adidas range would be greatly appreciated (joking!!) Keep writing for another 7 & be happy knowing you’ve made a difference for all us die hard fans xx & as we say in Australia “good on ya mate”

  13. Cami, thank you. Good luck with the dress contest!

Ambrin Akhtar, nice to meet you! I’m glad that people find me through Google and decide to stay!

Diane, thank you! I don’t comment on your blog often, but I hardly ever skip to read a post you write. Thank you for staying with me for more than half a decade, you’re certainly one of my first readers.

PeteTweet, Sam Stosur is also in the Top 3 of my favorite WTA baby pics and I’m not Australian, so maybe you’re not biased, it may be objective 🙂 Thank you for all the nice words! I also enjoy the light-hearted gossip articles, a bit of a mix of regular tennis news and off-court stories is a perfect blend for me.

  14. Mine is a little pathetic. Within a month of coming back from India where I got hooked on tennis thanks to Olga Puchkova beating Nicole Pratt in the second round of the Sunfeast Open in Kolkota. I googled Women’s tennis and this blog was one of the first things that came up. I clicked on it and have been reading this wonderful blog ever since. Still enjoy reading it. This means i could win that dress. What would I do with it?

  15. Congrats on your 7th anaversary!
A friend who I play tennis with recently showed me your site.
I’m obsessed with fashion /tennis fashion and enjoy seeing the latest featured trends.
The L’Etoile sports dress is definitely something I’d wear on and off the court!

  16. Happy Blog Birthday Marija! I first came across your blog through the blogroll from another tennis site, I think it was Women Who Serve. I bookmarked it then about 5 years ago and have been regularly reading your postings ever since. Why? You focus on women’s tennis and have fun sections like the WTA childhood photos, lovers and partners, and fashion news and retrospectives which is a bit different from just posting results and scores. Congratulations and keep blogging!

  17. I think I started reading and commenting in 2009. Hahahha. Such a long time, still a student back then and now I have a non-regular blog of my own. And I am still reading Marija’s beautiful site. And probably one of my missed opportunities is when Marija asked me to become a contributor to the site, and I ignored her, not deliberately though, just ignored her out of the blue. Sorry Marija.

Keep it up Marija. I also haven’t won anything yet, though I can’t wear the prize if ever. But who knows. Hahaha.

  18. I discovered your blog last year when I was lookinng which dresses where sharapova and ivanovic gonna were at the us open. I love how theres´s everything in this blog the status of tournaments, fashion and even gossip 🙂

  19. Marija, I can definitely remember that photo from the old ‘About’ section 😛 I started reading this blog during the Aus Open 5 years ago. I came across it from a link I saw to the fashion retrospections from 2008 and those retrospections are still one of my favourite parts of the blog! 7 years, I can’t believe it!! Happy Birthday to the blog 😛 Continue the good work Marija, this site is still one of the best ones out there 🙂

  20. P!nky, yes you can win the dress and give it to a female friend! I’m sure that a spare tennis dress is always a good thing! 🙂

Jill, oh I’m glad to get to know a new reader. I hope you’ll stay with Women’s Tennis Blog for the long time to come. Just now I posted an article about Serena’s dress for the upcoming French Open, your topic of interest 😉 Good luck in the random selection process!

Lesa, wow so I should thank Diane of Women Who Serve for earning you as a reader! 🙂 I see many people enjoy my fashion and childhood photos series, I can focus more on that in the future.

Phaura Reinz, “missed opportunities”! 🙂 You can always contribute with a guest post if you like, I give second chances to people 😉

Rosalía Calderon, it’s always a delight when I hear that people randomly find my blog and then stay for so long. Thank you!

Bróna, you really remember when this photo was the actual photo for the “About” section? Hahahah cool! It’s a real treasure to have readers from so long ago!

  21. Draga Marija, prošle godine sam pozornije počeo pratiti tvoj blog i dan danas sam još uvijek tu. Čestitam ti na uspješnih sedam godina uz želju da i dalje nastaviš istim tempom! (P.S. Molim te izuzmi moj komentar prilikom dijeljenja nagrade)

  22. GoranVR, I’m sorry that most of my readers probably can’t understand your comment, but I would like to thank you for sticking with my blog for the past year and for taking your time to congratulate me. 🙂

  23. Happy Blog Birthday!

I found your blog some years ago, I don’t remember the exact date. I enjoy very much reading your posts! 🙂 There are so few blogs concentrating on women’s tennis.

  24. Ines, thank you for joining the giveaway! You’re right, there are very few blogs about women’s tennis, that’s quite strange actually.

  25. Liz, I’m grateful you started commenting and that I got to meet you. It sounds awesome that my site is “the most complete resource” for tennis clothing. Imagine how rich my fashion retrospections will be if I continue to blog for another 7 years! 🙂

  26. Manfred, oh I didn’t know you found me through Erwin. Is he still in writing about tennis, at least occasionally? His Tennis Served Fresh blog was the best back in 2007.

  27. I think I follow your Women’s Tennis Blog for about 5 years now, maybe even longer. First I was just reading and enjoying the posts, but later I started commenting, because I know how satisfying it feels to have (a lot of) comments on your blog items 🙂

I guess I stumbled upon your blog while researching the year some piece of tennis clothing ‘came out’. Since it’s hard to find a year to date sort of timeline on these different items, your site is kind of the most complete resource 🙂

The thing I like about the blog the most is the fact that there’s a group of regulars and it’s not just the pretty faces of the Women’s Tennis we love, but everything that comes with Women’s Tennis. We’re not bound to a region, we just share our interest in Tennis Fashion, Women’s Tennis, Accessories, love life and all stories around our favorite sport.

Happy Anniversary, Marija, keep up the good work!

  28. Rachel bernstein, thank you!

James, thank you for being my great blogging friend these years 🙂

  29. I’d say I’d happen to start reading this blog about 5 years ago can’t exactly remember. I think I found this blog through another blog plus the cute little baby pictures helped with me starting to read it.

  30. Emily, wow I earned so many readers thanks to the baby pics! 🙂 I have so much more such pics in stock, so stay tuned! 😉

  31. Marija, erwin is doing great. He’s an editor now for the ATP Tour and travels all over the world these days. I am so proud of him!!

We were looking for quality blogs back then and he mentioned yours. I visited and never left. It’s awesome that you maintain the same high quality of writing after all these years 😀 Keep it up and again happy birthday to your blog! 🙂

  32. Happy Birthday womenstennisblog 🙂 And congrats Marija on a fantastic job!

As for me discovering this blog… It was about three years ago I think, I was just starting to discover the amazing world of tennis – starting both to play and to watch it. I do not recall the detail, but I am sure I was searching for some information on google and your blog must have popped out as one of the results. And since it seemed so well written, well documented and obviously done by someone who knew what she/he was doing, by someone who loved tennis and had extensive knowledge of it, I added it to my favorites and been regulary coming back ever since 🙂

  33. Hi Marija,

Just want to congratulate you for this milestone!!! Didn’t we just chat about this a couple of weeks ago? Wow! Great Job. I inspire to be like you, man. Your dedication is amazing. Keep up the good work of promoting our sport.

i remember reading your blog when you first launched it but I can’t remember how I found it 🙂

    Cheers,
    Ashley

  34. Manfred, it’s been great knowing you all these years! Wow I didn’t know Erwin’s been working for the ATP! Really amazing!

Maggie, thank you for being a regular contributor in my blog’s comments. I have a feeling you’ve been here for longer, because I got to know you quite well during these three years.

AfricanTennisNow, hey I didn’t know you’ve been reading my blog from the very start. Good to know that! 🙂

  35. Congratulations on your 7th anniversary. Also discovered your site through a blog roll – probably Down the Line Tennis which was one of my faves back in the day. Can’t wait to see what the pros will be wearing in Paris in a few weeks. Happy anniversary!

  36. GlamSpinTennis, oh Down the Line was also my favorite blog at the time. Rich is now making a break, but I hope he’ll get back to blogging.

Marko, oh nooooo not school! 🙂

  37. haha i don’t want those outfits 😛 even though they look great but congrats for successful 7 years and many more to come . Maria sharapova’s 2010 AO outfit brought me here and lil tiny ana mad me a regular visitor here 😀

  38. Sru, thank you! It’s always great to hear how people found WTB and why they became regular readers. I hope you’ll stick around for the long time to come! 🙂
