Just like Lotto, I think Fila‘s 2014 was their best tennis season, at least in recent history, and there’s no better way of proving it than seeing the tennis dresses Jelena Jankovic wore during the year, as part of our famous Fashion Retrospections.
JJ opened the season in this sapphire blue V-neck piece with bright lime contrast striping.
The Australian Open dress from the Center Court collection was inspired by the 80s.
Pink dominated JJ’s tennis fashion between the first two Grand Slams of the season.
The French Open was special. Fila put a stamp on the 2014 tennis fashion with this stripy creation which will definitely stay remembered as one of the most successful designs. Fila mixed the playfulness of busy stripes with the classic white and navy color combo. Absolute hit!
The stripy collection also featured a super cute skirt that JJ wore in Eastbourne, while Julia Goerges worked it as well, albeit with a contrasting yellow tank. Montreal and Cincy were all yellow for JJ.
The dress Fila made for Jankovic’s Wimbledon campaign, which actually happened to have lasted just as long as her first-round singles and doubles matches, was unique for its front and back panels. Julia Goerges displayed the just as lovely Fall Lawn Tennis Tank and pleated Fall Lawn Tennis Skort combo from the same collection. JJ’s Wimbledon dress can still be found, but only its pink version.
Last but not least, the world No.15 Jankovic closed the season in a big way, at least when it comes to fashion. The Fila Fall Center Court Group featured a variety of items that combined blue, purple, coral and white, but the most prominent item in the collection is this JJ’s US Open dress which makes this collection better known as the honeycomb collection. The honeycomb print, or as some call it the diamond print, is also seen in Fila’s separates – the Fila Fall Center Court Printed Racer Tank and Skirt.
Do you agree with me that this is probably the best Fila’s years ever? I have actually always liked Fila for sticking to that classic style, which in their case I never found boring, but still I think that this year they included a perfect touch of playfulness in their designs and JJ’s Roland Garros dress was spot on.
thank you for these lovely photos and article. Jelena is one of the best dressed tennis plavers ever. It’s always interesting to see her outfits.
B-Co, thank you. I enjoyed doing this overview, since I love JJ and this year her outfits were exceptionally good.
I really like all her dresses specially Fall Lawn Tennis Tank and pleated Fall Lawn Tennis Skirt combo because of their design and classy look.
Liz, the skirt JJ wore in Eastbourne is IMO the best Fila’s clothing item from 2014. The dress from the collection, that Jelena wore at the French Open, was perfect for her, for the Grand Slam stage, but when I look from the perspective of an ordinary person, the skirt is my top choice.
I really like the US Open dress and was surprised at the time that so many people hated it.

Yep, Fila is improving! I loved the Navy/Yellow/Stripes combination ánd of course the Wimbledon outfits, both the separates and the dress. Curious what they will create for the AO.
Sabey, I never hated it. It’s not my favorite, but it’s one of the best Fila’s dresses this year, after the French Open and Wimbledon dresses.
Great outfits!! many experimental designs without loosing their touch My fav outfits would be french and USO. Besides jj’s outfits i also like shvedova’s miami ( similar to jj’s but still ) and goerges’s french open outfits
I always felt like I saw jj’s uso outfit somewhere now i remember. sharapova wore honeycomb print during sugarpova launch in melbourne
Sru, I remember that Sharapova’s dress. It’s actually one of her best dresses ever, IMO, off-court ones of course. It was designed by David Koma. You were thinking of this one, right? 🙂 https://womenstennisblog.com/2013/01/13/sharapova-criticized-for-promoting-unhealthy-nutrition-with-sugarpova/
yes !! she can wear that dress on court too i’m sure it’ll look good on melbourne’s court 🙂 of course with tennis shoes 😀
Sru, hmm good idea actually!
