Tennis, love, modeling — everything works for Wozniacki, Dubai final next

Caroline Wozniacki is through to her second straight WTA final, having played ten matches in ten days, and it looks like everything’s sorted in the life of the hard-working Dane, as her tennis career successes are accompanied by a fulfilling love life with new boyfriend and plenty of side ventures such as the SI Swimsuit photoshoot and the most recent one for Elle Denmark.

After finishing runner-up at last week’s washed-out Qatar Total Open in Doha, the world No.15 Wozniacki confidently progressed into the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships final, beating Latvian Anastasia Sevastova 6-3 6-4 in the semis. Luckily, the rain didn’t affect this match much, as it was light and only briefly interrupted play once in each set.

The 2011 Dubai champion Wozniacki got 79% of her first serves in and won all 6 of 6 points on her second serve in winning the first set against the 35th-ranked Sevastova. There was only one break point opportunity in the entire set and Wozniacki used that sole chance without hesitation to build a 5-3 lead which quickly translated into 6-3.

In the second set, the tenth-seeded Wozniacki led 3-2 with a break in her hands and even though Sevastova had three break points (40-0) in the sixth game to level the set, Wozniacki saved them all and increased her lead to 4-2. With a series of wonderful forehands, Sevastova later leveled to 4-all, but Wozniacki took charge again and finished the match in 1 hour 26 minutes.

Wozniacki’s opponent in the title match will be seventh seed Elina Svitolina, who defeated top seed Angelique Kerber in the second semifinal.
