Tuesday’s schedule at the Dongfeng Motor Wuhan Open was super busy with 14 second-round matches in singles.
Our photographer Jimmie48 not only attended most of these singles matches, he also shot some doubles action, Donna Vekic‘s practice, and accompanied WTA Future Stars as they met Raluca Olaru, practiced with Vania King, and attended Elina Svitolina‘s press conference.
When it comes to the matches that shaped up the tournament’s third round, top-ranked Ashleigh Barty rallied to beat Caroline Garcia, second seed and fresh Zhengzhou Open champion Karolina Pliskova beat rising American teenager Amanda Anisimova in straight sets, third seed Elina Svitolina came back from an early break down to dispatch unseeded two-time Grand Slam champion Garbine Muguruza, and fourth seed Simona Halep kept intact her perfect head-to-head record against the always-tricky Barbora Strycova.
Seeds mostly had a successful day in Wuhan, as the only seeded player who lost on Tuesday was No.7 Belinda Bencic, falling at the hands of Russian qualifier Veronika Kudermetova 2-6 6-3 6-4.
