Former ATP world No.8 and the 2006 Australian Open runner-up Marcos Baghdatis is joining Elina Svitolina‘s coaching team, just months after ending his professional career at Wimbledon in July.
The Cypriot announced the news by sharing this practice photo on his Twitter account and saying:
I am so glad to announce the next chapter of my life and look forward to coaching a great athlete and super tennis player No.6 ranked WTA player Elina Svitolina, working alongside Andre Bettles! I want to thank Elina for putting her trust in me. Lets do this! Bring it on 2020.
Elina tweeted the same photo with the caption:
Teamwork gives you the best opportunity to turn vision into reality. #ShutupAndDoAsYoureTold
The 34-year-old Baghdatis must be very familiar with the WTA world, as he is married to former Croatian WTA player Karolina Sprem. They have two daughters, ages seven and four.
