American wildcard Alycia Parks tied Venus Williams’ US Open serve speed record during her Monday’s 6-3 7-5 first-round loss to Serbia’s Olga Danilovic on Court 13.
The world No.246 Parks hit a 129 mph serve, tying Venus Williams’ record-setting serve from the first round of the 2007 US Open.
The 20-year-old from Atlanta was making her Grand Slam main draw debut.
Danilovic will now face Naomi Osaka in the second round, as the defending champion beat Marie Bouzkova 6-4 6-1 on Day 1.
Somebody has to get 130 mph right? Sabalenka or Ka. Pliskova?
