Unseeded Anett Kontaveit of Estonia beat fourth seed Maria Sakkari of Greece in the J&T Banka Ostrava Open final 6-2 7-5, charging to her third and biggest WTA title without dropping a set.

The world No.30 Kontaveit faced just one break point in the final of the WTA 500 event. The 25-year-old has now recorded 31 match wins and six Top 20 victories in 2021.

Earlier this week, Lacoste-clad Kontaveit broke serve 14 times across wins over Sorana Cirstea in the first round, ninth seed Paula Badosa in the second round and third seed Belinda Bencic in the quarterfinals. Then she ousted world No.10 Petra Kvitova in the semifinals for her third Top 10 win this year, having previously defeated No.4 Sofia Kenin.

Sakkari was playing the Ostrava Open on a career-high ranking of world No.12. Despite the loss, the Greek is projected to crack the Top 10 when the WTA rankings get updated on Monday. (photo: Jimmie48)
