Upon arrival in Australia, Djokovic’s COVID-19 vaccine exemption documentation was deemed insufficient and he was not allowed to enter the country. After spending several days in harsh conditions of the immigration detention hotel, a judge overturned the visa cancellation and the Serbian tennis ace didn’t take long to hit the tennis courts in Melbourne.

Numerous active and retired WTA players liked Djokovic’s Instagram post from Melbourne Park, including Emma Raducanu, Caroline Wozniacki, Marion Bartoli, Eugenie Bouchard, Donna Vekic, Alize Cornet, Maria Sakkari, Aryna Sabalenka, Sania Mirza, and Paula Badosa.

The WTA player who stood out was Venus Williams, as the seven-time major champion expressed her support in the comments section of the post. The American wrote “Win it all” and accompanied the message with a heart, clapping hands, and fire emoji. The 41-year-old Williams took Djokovic’s side, even though she is very pro-vaccines, including those for COVID-19.

France’s former doubles world No.1 Kristina Mladenovic also celebrated Djokovic’s victory by posting several supportive emojis below his Instagram photo.
