Making milestone tenth appearance at All England Club and first since lifting title in 2019, Simona Halep made short work of Paula Badosa 6-1 6-2 to move into the quarterfinals of Wimbledon.
Seed No.16 Simona Halep showed no signs of vulnerability as she absolutely dominated Paula Badosa in the fourth round of Wimbledon on Monday. Across the opening three rounds, Badosa won a tournament-leading 90% of her service games, but the Romanian broke her serve five times in the Center Court match that lasted just 60 minutes.
The fourth-seeded Badosa looked completely powerless against the precise, focused and determined Halep, who gave her no opportunity to get into the rhythm. Interestingly, this is Halep’s first ever Top 5 win on grass.
In the quarterfinals, Halep will face No.20 seed Amanda Anisimova, as the American stopped the fairytale run of Harmony Tan 6-2 6-3 in a match going on simultaneously on Court No.1.
“First ever top 5 win on grass”? Really??
What position held Serena in 2019, when Halep defeated her in Wimbledon’s final?
Adrian, yes, interesting stat. Serena was ranked No.10 then.
Well done, Simona.
Wishing you every success to lift the
Wimbledon trophy for a second time !!. x
