The best part? You can potentially win an autographed player memorabilia by simply listing your predictions in the comment section below this article.

Guidelines for entry: How to participate

Share your Top 10 projections for the 2024 year-end WTA rankings. Around this time next year, we will evaluate the predictions and award the best predictor. In the case of a tie, we might randomly select a winner. Please make your selections in the comment section of this article by January 3, 2024. Everyone in the world can participate. There are no country restrictions.

Prize

The winner of the contest, to be announced this time next year, will have the privilege of selecting one item from a diverse array of prizes: from our extensive collection of signed player pictures to a selection of autographed US Open hats, signed magazine covers, and a bag of Sugarpova candy personally signed by Maria Sharapova.

Reflecting on 2023, the WTA experienced a return to normalcy, except for the disaster at the year-end championships. Here’s to hoping for better planning and an earlier selection of the host city and venue for this most important tournament in 2024.

Projections for 2024: John Bolan’s Top 10 picks

This marks my 15th year predicting the Top 10 women’s tennis players. Now, let’s dive into my projections for 2024:

1. Iga Swiatek
2. Aryna Sabalenka
3. Coco Gauff
4. Elena Rybakina
5. Ons Jabeur
6. Jessica Pegula
7. Marketa Vondrousova
8. Elina Svitolina
9. Zheng Qinwen
10. Anhelina Kalinina

The first seven players on my list finished within the Top 10 for 2023. I expect the same players who dominated in 2023 to again be among the best players during 2024. If Elina Svitolina plays the entire year as she played during her part year of 2023, she will be in the Top 10. Zheng Qinwen is the best young player not in the 2023 Top 10. Anhelina Kalinina has the right attitude to become a Top 10 player in 2024.

Iga Swiatek is my number one pick once again for 2024. The Pole is the best player, period! She lost her number one ranking for a brief time before showing the resolve of a true champion and regaining number one before the year end.

Aryna Sabalenka is my pick for number two because she is so strong and can overpower her opponents. She proved this year she can attain the number one ranking.

Coco Gauff could well be number one sometime in 2024. The American leads the teenagers in the rankings. Her recent US Open triumph underscores her potential to claim the number one spot soon. Only the two talented players I chose above her are stopping her for now.

The four next players — Elena Rybakina, Ons Jabeur, Jessica Pegula, and Marketa Vondrousova — all boast the potential to claim the top spot. It’s a tough call to rank them in a specific order, as any one of them could emerge as the best player in 2024.

Elina Svitolina‘s unexpected comeback in the latter part of 2023 took everyone by surprise. If she commits to a full schedule in 2024, she’s undoubtedly a contender for the Top 10. Svitolina’s dedication to the sport makes her more than deserving of this recognition.

Zheng Qinwen, currently ranked fifteenth, recently turned 21 and boasts a formidable team supporting her. The Chinese a natural choice for a Top 10 player in 2024.

And finally, my wildcard pick for the Top 10 is Anhelina Kalinina. The Ukrainian is a courageous player who keeps getting better every year. I expect her to be 100% physically fit in 2024 and play her best tennis ever.
