UTR Sports reveals expanded global calendar for 2025, announces $11 million investment in pro tennis

UTR Sports, known for its top-tier tennis and pickleball rating systems, alongside its elite tournament management software, has unveiled the first half of its 2025 UTR Pro Tennis Tour (PTT) calendar.

The upcoming year will witness a significant global expansion of the UTR Pro Tennis Tour, backed by an impressive $11 million investment aimed at nurturing up-and-coming professional tennis players. The initial three months of the 2025 PTT schedule will feature over 100 events, with tournaments taking place throughout the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific.

In a time when other tennis organizations are scaling back investments in professional tennis, UTR Sports is stepping up to enhance its developmental pathway for rising pros. Earlier this year, UTR Sports partnered with Sportradar, which laid the groundwork for this large-scale expansion.

“We’re thrilled to launch this significant expansion of the UTR Pro Tennis Tour,” said Mark Leschly, Chairman and CEO of UTR Sports. “By investing more than $11 million into rising pro tennis players across the globe, UTR Sports is showing once again how we’re committed to growing tennis globally and supporting this crucial period of time in a tennis player’s career.”

A key feature of this expansion is the introduction of a $500,000 player incentive pool, which will be available to eligible participants. UTR Sports will provide more information on how players can access these funds in the near future.

Now entering its fifth year, the PTT is designed to offer players greater opportunities for competitive matches and financial rewards. Next year’s tour will more than double in size, with around 450 tournaments and 20,000 matches scheduled. The PTT’s popular round-robin weekday format ensures players can compete in multiple matches per tournament, reducing travel costs and other expenses. Additionally, the tour will maintain its seven- and eight-day event formats, while introducing new four-day tournaments to accommodate more player needs.

Several players who began their careers on the PTT have reached the highest levels of professional tennis. At the 2024 US Open, 39 former PTT competitors participated in the main draw, including Li Tu, a five-time PTT champion from Australia, who faced four-time Grand Slam winner Carlos Alcaraz on Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Another PTT alumnus, Alex Michelsen, has climbed into the ATP Top 50 and is expected to compete in the ATP’s year-end showcase event for young stars. Michelsen’s journey began on the PTT, where he claimed titles in 2021 and 2022.

Iryna Shymanovich, another rising star, competed against Aryna Sabalenka at the 2023 Roland Garros and has played in all four Grand Slam qualifying events this year. Despite her success, she continues to participate in PTT events, winning two $25K titles just last month.

Fans can catch live PTT matches on Amazon Prime, with streaming available to over 1.6 billion tennis fans worldwide.
