Croatian tennis star Donna Vekic took to Instagram to reveal an exciting new collaboration: celebrated coach Sascha Bajin has officially joined her team. In a playful post, she shared a video of herself practicing on the court alongside a figure concealed in a white hoodie, captioning it, “Who’s the brave guy?” She later confirmed the news in another story, posing on the court with Bajin and writing, “Welcome,” while tagging him.
This year, Vekic captured a silver medal at the Olympic Games, reached the Wimbledon semifinals, and climbed into the world’s Top 20 rankings. With her sights set on reaching even greater heights, Vekic has brought in the renowned coach to help her achieve her ambitious goals.
Bajin is best known for his work as Serena Williams’ hitting partner during her major title wins and for coaching Naomi Osaka to Grand Slam victories at the 2018 US Open and 2019 Australian Open, earning him the inaugural WTA Coach of the Year award in 2018. Over the years, he has coached several top players, including Kristina Mladenovic, Dayana Yastremska, Karolina Pliskova—whom he guided to the 2021 Wimbledon final—and briefly Alycia Parks in early 2024. Bajin has also served as a hitting partner for elite players like Victoria Azarenka, Sloane Stephens, and Caroline Wozniacki.
