As seventh seed and last year’s semifinalist Angelique Kerber lost today to Kaia Kanepi 3-6 7-6(6) 6-3 in round two, despite leading 6-3 and 5-1 in the second-set tiebreak, Wimbledon came down to only four of the Top 10 seeds.
However, never is a situation bad for everyone, and even though the tournament has a handful of most popular players to attract the crowd, home favorite Laura Robson has been doing exceptionally well, reaching the third round for the first time, with a win over qualifier Mariana Duque-Marino 6-4 6-1, and that’s not all, her victory took place on prestigious Centre Court, by virtue of the match being postponed from Thursday to Friday. Robson enjoyed the win even more as the roof, the closed space, made the spectators even louder. (photo: sr_cranks)
