The qualifying stage at the 2016 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix continued in Stuttgart on Sunday as 16 players tried to punch their ticket for the qualifying finals.

Some, like local heroes Carina Witthöft & Laura Siegemund, were successful, much to the delight of the enthusiastic crowd. Others ended their Stuttgart experience on Sunday, including Laura Robson. Recovering from a very lengthy wrist injury layoff, Robson failed to win her match against France’s Oceane Dodin.

While the qualifiers were busy on the outer courts and center court was kept busy with plenty of practice action, some players got to enjoy themselves off-court as well. Petra Kvitova was invited to visualize her 2016 season travels on a map and several players took part in Porsche’s parking challenge.

Involving the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S, the challenge also included a tight course of cones and the parallel-parking challenge. While Britain’s Johanna Konta failed to place the sports car in the tight spot in a timely manner, Russia’s Ekaterina Makarova aced the challenge with a perfect parking move.

More players will tackle the challenge on Monday as all of this week’s Fed Cup heroes are expected to arrive in Stuttgart, including reigning champion Angelique Kerber. Monday will also have the players’ night in store, as well as the first main-draw play with German’s Anna-Lena Friedsam & Sabine Lisicki kicking off the tournament.
