Dominika Cibulkova has been dating Miso Navara since 2010, the couple being engaged since 2012, and now that they have finally managed to organize a wedding in Bratislava, it is possible that it will have to be called off because of the Slovak’s deep run at Wimbledon.
Cibulkova recently won her first grasscourt title at the Premier-level Aegon International Eastbourne and now she’s in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon after winning an absolute epic against Agnieszka Radwanska today. That’s a nine-match winning streak on grass and with Cibulkova’s current form and drive it is possible we’ll see her in another Grand Slam final. This time, however, Cibulkova has her wedding scheduled for Saturday, July 9th, the day of the women’s final at Wimbledon.
Despite the overlapping schedule, the world No.18 is happy with her current situation and wouldn’t mind it developing one or the other way, even though she planned out this wedding nine months ago:
If I’m still here on Saturday that would be a dream coming true, so it will be good this way or the other.
Just to put things in perspective, back in January 2013 Cibulkova said this about her wedding plans:
We are just waiting, as I would like to have a marriage in summer back home, but there is just no time while I’m playing tennis so we are in no rush to be married.
Now that they have finally managed to fit the wedding in her schedule, it might have to be delayed, but OK, a Grand Slam final would definitely be worth it. Although, let’s go one step at a time and see what will happen against Elena Vesnina in the quarterfinals. (photos: Jimmie48, source: BBC)
