The world No. 1 Swiatek has secured her place in the prestigious season-ending tournament for the fourth consecutive year. The Polish star claimed victory last year, decisively defeating Jessica Pegula in the final held in Cancun, Mexico, where the tournament took place. On her WTA Finals debut in 2021, Swiatek was eliminated in the group stage, and in 2022, she reached the semifinals but lost to Aryna Sabalenka.

The 23-year-old has won five titles so far in 2024—Doha, Indian Wells, Madrid, Rome, and Roland Garros—all at WTA 1000 and Grand Slam levels. The last three of these titles were part of a 21-match winning streak that concluded after Swiatek secured her fourth French Open title. Her streak ended in the third round of Wimbledon, where she lost to Kazakhstan’s Yulia Putintseva.

New WTA Finals tournament director Garbine Muguruza is looking forward to welcoming Swiatek in Riyadh: “Following another outstanding season on the Hologic WTA Tour that has seen Iga once again set new heights and break records, I’m delighted to be able to welcome our world No. 1 to the WTA Finals. Iga and the rest of the WTA Finals qualifiers will inspire women and girls in the region and showcase this amazing sport on a world-class stage.” (source: WTA)
