Bow down to fashion queen: Naomi Osaka’s jaw-dropping day and night US Open dresses

2

Naomi Osaka has unveiled her stunning Nike outfit for the 2024 US Open, crafted by designer Yoon Ahn. The ensemble draws inspiration from Lolita fashion, showcasing bold bow accents and layered ruffles.

For her night matches, the four-time Grand Slam champion will don a sophisticated black-and-white outfit infused with Japanese subculture influences. The black dress is beautifully accented with a shiny white bow on the back, which gracefully cascades over four tiers of ruffles. Her bomber jacket, adorned with a striking contrasting bow, is further enhanced by a low hemline finished with delicate tulle lace borders.

The bow theme extends to her footwear, with small bows embellishing the backs of her shoes, adding a playful touch. The white-and-green sneakers were first revealed when Osaka shared a casual photo from a US Open practice session with world No. 1 Iga Swiatek.

For the day sessions, Osaka will sport a green version of the dress, ensuring her style stands out in every match. Nike has also created a mini version of the dress for Osaka’s daughter, Shai, who may be cheering on her mother in New York.

The mastermind behind this unique outfit, Yoon Ahn, co-founded the Tokyo-based label Ambush in 2008 and has been collaborating with Nike since 2018. On August 27, Ahn will launch an eight-piece collection of vintage tennis-inspired clothing for Nike Women, blending her innovative design aesthetic with classic sportswear elements.

Osaka’s first-round opponent at the 2024 US Open will be tenth seed Jelena Ostapenko. Their match is scheduled for Tuesday, during the day session.
