Laura Siegemund achieved a remarkable feat at the Australian Open by defeating Top 5 player and last year’s finalist, Zheng Qinwen, to advance to the third round. This victory also made Siegemund the third-oldest player to beat a Top 5 WTA player at the Australian Open in the last three decades. After the match, the German veteran expressed her gratitude to her partner and coach, Antonio Zucca.

Siegemund and Zucca have been a couple for over six years, with their relationship first mentioned in January 2019. Back then, Siegemund shared a photo from the ASB Classic players’ party with the caption, “My man <3”. Earlier that day, Zucca posted a romantic sunset photo on Instagram, writing: “I know that you don’t like this kind of thing, but maybe you can make an exception for today! To the girl who changed my life, I wish a happy New Year full of health and success ???? #2019.”

Fast forward more than half a decade, and Laura and Antonio are still going strong. Following her significant win in Melbourne, Siegemund reflected on her deep bond with her partner, sharing her heartfelt feelings:

“First of all, I love him very much,” she said, smiling after her 7-6(3) 6-3 triumph over the Olympic gold medalist and fifth seed on John Cain Arena. “The best part is we’re spending our life together on tour. It’s very hard if your boyfriend or husband is not traveling with you. We’re sharing all the great and terrible moments together, and that’s the best part. He’s always by my side, which I really appreciate very much.”
