Tennis legend Billie Jean King has made history as the first woman to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the Sports Entertainment category.
King shared her excitement on X, saying: “Today, I became the first woman to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the Sports Entertainment category. Words cannot express how honored and grateful I am to receive this star.”

At the ceremony, held at the Hollywood and Vine intersection, King was joined by NBA Hall of Famer Magic Johnson and Oscar-winning actress Jamie Lee Curtis, who both celebrated her legacy. King expressed her gratitude to them: “I have so many people to thank, including the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Magic Johnson, and Jamie Lee Curtis for their kind, inspiring, and memorable words. Snap pants are the next big thing. If you know, you know, right Jamie Lee?”

Reflecting on the honor, King added, “I may be the first woman to be awarded a star in this category, but I’m certainly not going to be the last. Let’s keep going for it!”
The 81-year-old King received the 2,807th star, with fans gathering to witness the historic moment. The ceremony brought together King with her early WTA Tour colleagues, including players Rosie Casals and Julie Anthony, along with retired athletic trainer Connie Spooner. Also present were five-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova and Stacey Allaster, former WTA CEO and current US Open tournament director.
