Former college star Carson Branstine is enjoying a breakthrough 2025 season and is just days away from the biggest match of her life at SW19 in London. The 24-year-old American-born Canadian has qualified for Wimbledon, where she will face WTA world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in her Grand Slam debut.
Branstine boasts a UTR Rating of 11.82 and started her stellar year by competing on the UTR Pro Tennis Tour (UTR PTT), a global developmental tour for aspiring pros with guaranteed matches and prize money at each $25,000 event. The UTR PTT also recently launched the UTR Pro Summer Slam in the U.S. (a 15-week series of events will deliver $450,000 in prize money), creating more opportunities for former and current college players like Branstine to compete closer to home.
Branstine reached the semifinals of the UTR PTT Newport Beach in January and was a finalist in 2022 at a UTR PTT in College Station, where she attended Texas A&M. She was a standout leader for the Aggies, helping the team win the 2024 NCAA Championships — the first in program history.
Since turning pro, Branstine has risen up the WTA rankings from outside of the Top 500 to a career-high of No. 190 (her current ranking is No. 197). The 2025 season has been full of milestones. In February, Branstine qualified for the WTA 125 in Cancun, making it all the way to the finals. In June, she made her WTA main draw debut by qualifying for the Libema Open in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.
At Wimbledon this week, playing in just her second Grand Slam qualifying event ever, Branstine took out Roland Garros semifinalist Lois Boisson in the first round. She then defeated former US Open champion Bianca Andreescu, before beating Raluca Serban to secure her place in her first Grand Slam main draw.
