What? Bastian celebrates birthday with “Best Dad” cake after betraying Ana

Just when it seemed Bastian Schweinsteiger had hit rock bottom after making out with his new girlfriend in public multiple times, the former German footballer managed to ignite even more controversy—seemingly on purpose.

On August 1, Schweinsteiger turned 41 and chose to mark the occasion by posting a photo on Instagram that many found distasteful and provocative. The image shows him grinning next to a homemade birthday cake that reads: “Happy Birthday Best Dad.” At first glance, it might seem harmless. But given the circumstances, the timing and message are raising eyebrows.

Is this cake a subtle jab at his ex-wife, Ana Ivanovic? Or is there an underlying custody battle being hinted at?

The couple, once considered a model of privacy and grace, shocked fans earlier this year by separating and later finalizing divorce after nine years of marriage. They share three young sons—Luka, Leon, and Theo. While Ana has maintained her dignity in public, Schweinsteiger has been anything but discreet. During the divorce proceedings, he was spotted multiple times making out with his new girlfriend, drawing comparisons to a horny teenager.

The wholesome family image that Ana and Bastian had built over the years now feels like a distant memory. And with this “Best Dad” cake post, Schweinsteiger appears to be crafting a new narrative, one that feels performative at best and inflammatory at worst.

One user wrote, “A good dad doesn’t wander the world chasing Bulgarian singers; he takes care of his family… and doesn’t put it at risk.” Others were even harsher, dubbing him “The worst dad of the year.”

Another comment summed up the bitter sentiment many shared: “Leaving such a wonderful wife and change it with someone does not have any kind of value. Instead of that having 3 son. Just wait a couple of years. Your kids will not even ask for you and you will be alone alone. You changed Ferrari for Golf”

“Best dad. I wonder if the kids see it that way?” another person added.

What do you think Bastian is trying to say with this cake?

Meanwhile, Ana Ivanovic remains gracefully silent about the heartbreak caused by the man she once considered her rock. Her recent beachside photos, featuring children’s toys and books, suggest that her sons are with her during this difficult time. Support continues to pour in from all over the world. Even her idol Monica Seles shared kind words, writing: “Ana, you are gorgeous both inside and outside.”
