Iga Swiatek captured her 24th career title, and 11th at the WTA 1000 level, with a commanding 7-5 6-4 victory over Jasmine Paolini in the Cincinnati Open final. The win adds another surge of confidence for the former world No. 1 as she heads into the US Open, coming just weeks after her first triumph on grass at Wimbledon.

The Cincinnati clash with Paolini was a rematch of the 2024 French Open final, where Swiatek had denied the Italian a maiden major title. This time, Paolini looked determined early on, racing to a 3-0 lead. But the seventh seed’s surge was quickly met with resistance. The third-seeded Swiatek found her rhythm, producing a five-game run to wrestle control of the first set before closing it out 7-5.
The second set offered more twists, with both players exchanging breaks twice. Yet, as she has so often done on the biggest stages, Swiatek delivered when it mattered most. A decisive break in the seventh game allowed her to edge ahead, and she sealed the championship two games later.

Impressively, Swiatek struck nine aces to Paolini’s zero and made good on all six of her break-point chances. The six-time Grand Slam champion also kept her composure in key moments, ensuring the match never slipped out of her grasp.
“I’m happy with the work we’ve been doing, happy with that process. I’m happy I won in straight sets,” Swiatek reflected after the victory. “I’m a good player. I can play on any surface.”
Swiatek didn’t drop a single set during her campaign in Cincinnati. Her path to the title included commanding wins over Anastasia Potapova, Marta Kostyuk, Sorana Cirstea, Anna Kalinskaya, Elena Rybakina, and finally Paolini. With her form peaking at the right time, Swiatek heads into the US Open brimming with momentum.
