Inside the love of Sabalenka and her boyfriend: “The way he supports me, nobody ever did”

Aryna Sabalenka’s boyfriend, Georgios Frangulis, is constant presence by her side, joining her at tournaments across the globe. Since their relationship began, the WTA star has added two more Grand Slam titles to her résumé, often crediting her partner’s support as an important part of her success.

After edging out Amanda Anisimova 6-3 7-6(3) in the women’s singles final at the US Open, Sabalenka was greeted with a surprise video message from Frangulis, a Brazil-born entrepreneur of Greek descent. His words delighted the champion.

“You’re so freaking amazing. I love you so much and yeah, you did it again. Queen of New York, queen of my heart of course,” Frangulis said, before joking: “I’m waiting for you in the gym so we can celebrate a little bit.”

The world No.1, who collapsed to the court in relief after sealing the win, later admitted just how much his presence has meant to her.

“His support means a lot to me and the way he supports me, nobody ever did and it’s just amazing and now I cannot wait to go, celebrate and enjoy this trophy together,” Sabalenka said, sporting the white version of the Nike Fall Slam 2 Dress.

Moments after the match, she climbed into the stands to embrace her team and share a kiss with Frangulis before returning to the court for the official ceremony.

This victory carried added significance for the Belarusian. Earlier in the season, she endured painful defeats in the finals of both the Australian Open (to Madison Keys) and the French Open (to Coco Gauff), and fell in the semifinals at Wimbledon against Anisimova. In New York, however, she finally ended her drought, successfully defending her title and claiming her fourth career major.

The couple’s relationship became public during the 2024 Madrid Open, where they were seen hugging. Soon afterwards, they started sharing their moments together on Instagram. The timing stirred controversy, as only months earlier Sabalenka’s longtime partner, Konstantin Koltsov, had tragically passed away at the age of 42 in Miami. At the time of his death, it was not even known that their relationship had ended.

During her third-round clash against Leylah Fernandez on Louis Armstrong Stadium, a fan proposal in the stands briefly stole the spotlight. Asked later if she hoped her boyfriend might have picked up on the moment, Sabalenka responded:

“I don’t want this kind of proposal. But I looked at my boyfriend. Yeah (smiling). No pressure.”

At her post-match press conference at the 2025 US Open, the 27-year-old was beaming, revealing she now plans to take a few days off to celebrate with her closest circle. (via MSN)
