The messy separation of former tennis star Ana Ivanovic and her husband, retired footballer Bastian Schweinsteiger, is continuing to unfold as the legal process moves ahead. A court has reportedly ordered the former German athlete to pay €15,000 (approx. $17,700) per month in child support for each of their three children.

Despite their global fame, Ivanovic and Schweinsteiger were widely regarded as a harmonious, picture-perfect couple. However, everything unexpectedly changed last year. In July, Ivanovic’s lawyer confirmed that the couple had separated, and four months later a formal divorce petition was filed with the District Court in Munich. The reason cited for the end of the marriage was “irreconcilable differences.”
At the same time, child support proceedings were initiated in Palma de Mallorca, where Ivanovic currently resides with their three sons — Luka (8), Leon (5) and Theo (2).
German magazine Bunte has published details of the case, reporting that the court took into account Schweinsteiger’s substantial income as well as the luxurious lifestyle the children are accustomed to. During the proceedings, it was established that the couple spent between €6,000 and €7,000 per month on food alone. Each son has his own nanny, and the 2008 Roland Garros champion also has to pay for a gardener, a chef, and two cleaners in Mallorca.
Based on this, the court ruled that the father must pay €15,000 per month per child. This amounts to a total of €45,000 per month, or over half a million euros annually. According to the report, Schweinsteiger did not appeal the decision.
Ivanovic and Schweinsteiger began dating in 2014. They got married on July 12, 2016 in Venice, Italy. (via Sportal)
