Former champion Serena Williams beat Wimbledon finalist Marion Bartoli of France 6-3 6-4 to reach the quarter-finals of the US Open on Sunday.
The eighth-seeded American lost her serve early in the match, but quickly recovered to defeat her opponent in 76 minutes, and set up a possible clash with world number one Justine Henin.
I was hoping that tenth-seeded Bartoli will at least take Williams to three sets, but I may see that some other time…
