Marina Erakovic is recognized as the first New Zealand’s woman to enter the Top 100 for over twenty years — the feat she achieved after reaching the semifinal of Memphis in February. At the Sony Ericsson Open, currently being played in Miami, Erakovic has been making good use of her wildcard.

New Zealand must be very proud as the 20-year-old defeated world No.70 Martina Muller 6-4 6-7(4) 6-2 in the first round, and today world No.34 Michaella Krajicek 6-2 3-6 6-2, to reach the third round at the Tier I tournament in Miami.

Erakovic, who is currently ranked 101st in the world, will next face either world No.87 Marta Domachowska or sixth seed Venus Williams.
