Seventh seed Venus Williams moved into the fourth round of the US Open with an imposing 6-2 6-1 victory over No.27 seed Alona Bondarenko of Ukraine.
Williams, the 2000 and 2001 champion, served three aces in the first game and never looked back. The victory came in just 56 minutes. Williams broke Bondarenko twice in both sets, while she herself faced no break points.
In the fourth round Williams will face ninth seed Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland who advanced with a 6-0 6-3 victory over Slovakia’s Dominika Cibulkova.
Venus and Agnieszka have played only once so far, in 2006 in Luxembourg, when the Pole won 6-3 6-0.
