Maria SharapovaMaria Sharapova is about to skip two more tournaments, failing to recover from the infamous shoulder injury.

The WTA said in a statement that the Russian has pulled out from next month’s clay-court tournaments Internazionali BNL d’Italia and Mutua Madrilena Madrid Open.

Sharapova hasn’t played a singles match since last August, while she made a brief return to competitive tennis at Indian Wells last month, playing doubles.

I have to say I kind of expected it. All her statements about the comeback have been somewhat vague. (source: Reuters, photo: Ralf Reinecke)

  1. I’m not sure that she’s pulled out from both tournaments I mean there isn’t anything official on her website….however hoping that she will be back at rome or at least at madrid but the most important is to play in paris. Love you MASHA!!!

  2. The Reuters article stated that the WTA said in a statement about Maria’s withdrawal. So it’s official, even though her website has posted nothing about it, yet.

  3. She will return at paris!!

Thats what she is waiting for the big comeback at wat a way to come bac by winning the real only grand slam that eludes her which is Roland Garros go Maria

    Love you!!

  4. I don’t think she’s perfectly healthy and that she’s postponing her comeback just to make a big one at Roland Garros.
