After having an amazing comeback to professional tennis at Cincinnati, Kim Clijsters has continued her winning ways.
Last week at the Western and Southern Financial Group Women’s Open, former No.1 Clijsters had defeated two Top 20 players and one Top 10 player (Marion Bartoli, Patty Schnyder and Svetlana Kuznetsova), before being stopped by current No.1 Dinara Safina in the quarterfinals.
Today at the Rogers Cup, Safina was upset in the second round, while Clijsters’ comeback keeps rolling as the Belgian defeated qualifier Elena Baltacha in the opening round and has now upset ninth seed Victoria Azarenka 7-5 4-6 6-1 in the second round.
Clijsters’ next test will be last weekend’s champion Jelena Jankovic, seeded fifth, who beat Patty Schnyder 7-5 6-4 to advance to the third round.
I’m fraking happy for kim she is displaying such a great tennis!! and is going to be a nice match up against jelena.. i won’t mis it for sure!! i hope that after the US open she decides to return completely!! love you kim!!
I think the same nacho… she had played excellent since her first match this season…
I wanna see more of this elasticity!!!! I really admire her for coming back after having her baby… Good Luck Kim!!!
ana ivanovic lost again! what’s happening with her? i’m fed up with those dissapointins failures… why she couldn’t win two matches in a row?
by the way, congratulations to kim! she’s an amazing player!
well tangerine i watched the match and i can say it wasn’t just ana’s fault. safarova played a great match she was slaming the ball with her backhand beautifully!!!. however ana helped her by serving really bad and making too many unforced errors!! hope she can recover the tennis that took her to 2008 roland garros champion or number 1!…..
I think the same nacho… she had played excellent since her first match this season…
