Justine Henin gets past Elena Dementieva at Sony Ericsson Open

Wildcard Justine Henin advanced to the third round of the Sony Ericsson Open with a 6-3 6-2 victory over world No.6 Elena Dementieva.

The former world No.1 Henin, now ranked 33rd, faced no break points in the first set and broke the fifth-seeded Dementieva three times in the second set to beat the Russian once again this year, after their second-round encounter at the Australian Open.

The win over a strong players such as Dementieva is important for Henin who is still building up her comeback, since she lost early at her last tournament (Indian Wells) and has been working hard since then.

The 27-year-old Henin will play seed No.26 Dominika Cibulkova in the third round.

Unlucky Elena. Bad for her. I really like Justine but I hope Domča will play her best and will make Justine tough time on the court. 🙂

Wow, Justine has shaken off all the rust. She really blasted Elena this time. Their head 2 head is now 11 – 2, I think. Ah well, that’s life, and I still think Elena is a very good player. Hopefully Dominika will put up a decent fight, she can learn a lot from a player like Justine.

Justines Tournament for the taking imo. She’s different class to the others (Serena apart probably) when she hits top form.

    Marine, you’re right, it’s 11-2 now. My favorite Henin’s head-to-head is with JJ. 😛

Marija, yes, I also like her head-to-head with JJ. Well, JJ is kind of “head-less”: 0-9 LOL.
