Zheng Jie dethroned Elena Dementieva in the third round of the Rogers Cup with a 7-6(3) 6-4 victory in their first career meeting. The Chinese has recorded her seventh Top 10 win.
Before defeating the fourth-seeded Dementieva, Zheng made one more upset, coming back from 7-5 4-2 down to beat seed No.16 Aravane Rezai in the second round. Zheng is now the only unseeded player left in the Rogers Cup draw.
Second seed Caroline Wozniacki advanced to the quarterfinals by defeating 15th-seeded Flavia Pennetta 4-6 6-3 6-1 for her fourth win in as many meetings with the Italian. Next for Wozniacki is French Open champion Francesca Schiavone who ended Dinara Safina’s seven-match winning streak in Montreal by defeating the Russian 6-4 6-3.
Fifth seed Kim Clijsters followed up her second round thriller against Bethanie Mattek-Sands with an easy victory over Kaia Kanepi, 6-2 6-1.

“The Big Stuffed Bunny” won over Pennetta, just by looking at the score Pennetta fizzled. BTW she lost in doubles.
Now I have “The Bunny” over that annoying thing.
I have Azarenka over Bartoli. Kuzzy and Jie looks like an interesting match.

I think Pennetta jammed a toe or something in the second set…and Serena’s out of the Open and Kim injured her hip today against Vera, so, “The Bunny” will most likely be #1 seed for the Open and well, she just might win. I’m hoping that Sveta wins though, I’d like a Sveta/Azarenka final.
But if Sharpie’s foot is okay she might sneak another Open too. I wouldn’t mind Li Na sneaking to the Qr’s either. I hope JJ/Bartoli or Bartoli/Rezai play a drama filled 4R/Qr.
If Ana’s okay she might sneak a 4R, Aggie may have a good shot too at Qr’s. I hope Kiri has a good draw, she could sneak a 4R also.
JJ/Elena/Dinara have another opportunity to make the Slam Winner List, they better not blow it!!

Thank you for the information, I haven’t been able to see this matches. They are being televise but in order to see them I have to pay more to get the cable channel that is televising the event, and I refuse to pay for more cable. Slipped my mind to check the web for free streaming. I found it odd that Pennetta lost that easy, she has been playing good tennis and for sure without the injury she would have taken down “The Big Stuffed Bunny”. Jamming a toe: Ouch.
