WTA launches new logo in Doha

The WTA launched a new logo on Sunday, which they say is different from other sport logos because it doesn’t have a picture of an athlete, but rather puts an emphasis on letters. The logo’s oval shape should remind us of the mark a tennis balls leaves on the court and also of the shape of a racquet. Of course, the yellow thing the letter “A” is giving birth to, as Forty Deuce described, is a tennis ball.

What do you think of the new logo? I like the color scheme, and that’s pretty much it.

  1. I don’t know, I kinda like the old one more, this one looks more like some trade mark logo then for asociaton, but it’s still okay. Btw so not liking what are the players wearing, maybe just Dementieva looks good.

  2. Mirjana, I think that the players actually look much better than in general at such events. About the logo, I agree, the logo itself is ok, but I would prefer something different for the purpose. However, it’s not ugly, and I think I’ll get used to it.

  3. Logos are things which were never really important for me, so if without an alert I would not even notice. By the way, I don’t see Victoria Azarenka on any photos, do you know what’s up with her? I hope this year’s Doha won’t be like last year when everyone was carrying too many injuries and just dropping out without a proper fight.

  4. For once the players don’t actually look too bad. The sock tan never fails to amuse me though 😛 The new logo doesn’t really matter to me, the WTA is the WTA.

  5. I think girls looked very good, defined eyes and cheeks can make mayor differencies 🙂 Dresses are also really nice, but Sam should chose dress which would flatter her body more.
About logo, it is just kinda too supermodern, I agree with Mirjana, if I didn’t know about tennis as much, I wouldn’t thought it has something to do with sport.

  6. Marine, Azarenka won Moscow the day this photo was taken.

Jacob, I remember, the one in which she looked like a belly dancer?
