Elena Dementieva

In July 2011 Elena Dementieva married her long-time boyfriend, Russian ice-hockey player Maxim Afinogenov, and a couple of days ago the retired Russian tennis star gave birth to a baby girl Veronika, her first child. It’s too early to have photos of the baby, but even her pregnancy was away from the public eye, unlike in the cases of Kim Clijsters, Gisela Dulko, Tatjana Maria and others, who enjoyed sharing their baby bump photos.

However, we did see a bunch of nice photos from Dementieva’s Moscow wedding, as well as a short video from the ceremony. (source: tweet of Vladas Lasitskas, photo: © Neal Trousdale)

  1. I’m happy for Lena. She used to be one of my favorite women’s players and I still miss seeing her on court. But it’s definitely nice to here about her every once in a while.

  2. Lena’s really good at keeping things quiet. She had shocked us all when she retired without advance notice. Great to hear about her baby.
