Eugenie Bouchard - Nuremberg

Eugenie Bouchard had achieved amazing results in her career, the most prominent being her 2014 Australian Open semifinal and her subsequent appearance in the Top 20, and today in Nürnberg the Canadian reached another milestone by winning her maiden WTA title. In the final of the Nürnberger Versicherungscup, the second-seeded Bouchard defeated Karolina Pliskova 6-2 4-6 6-3.

The 19th-ranked Bouchard looked to be on course to a straight-set win when she was up 6-2 4-2, but from then on she lost four straight games and Pliskova broke even. Despite some bad errors in the decider, Bouchard managed to push through and claim the €34,677 champion’s prize and 280 ranking points.

This was not an amazing tournament only for Bouchard. Thanks to our photographer Jimmie48‘s galleries, we will never forget the fun times that the event provided, all the way from the qualifying on Friday and Saturday, to the main draw action on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

Fashion info: Bouchard’s winning outfit features the Nike Women’s Summer Premier Maria Tank in white and Nike Women’s Summer Premier Maria Skort in bright grape.

Bouchard in June Vogue

On a different note, Bouchard is featured in the June issue of Vogue and she was happy to show the spread to her Twitter followers yesterday.

  1. Good to see Bouchard finally win a title and Puig also in Strasbourg. The up-and-comers on the WTA tour are really starting to emerge. At times, it wasn’t the most encouraging of performances from Bouchard. She let slip a 6-2 4-2 lead, but in the end, closed out the match well. I think she has a great draw at RG and could make quarters.

  2. Yes, it was really nice to see both Bouchard and Puig prevail in the final. Now I’m just waiting for Sloane to win one. It just sometimes seems like she isn’t interested in doing that well in the regular WTA events. :/
