I got in touch with Fila and received exclusive information about their new Platinum collection to be debuted at the 2015 US Open.
Fila prides itself on designing a collection that is a “modern day version of a suit of armor ready for battle on the tennis court”, owing to THERMOCOOL(TM) fabric which optimizes the body’s natural thermal capabilities through smart fiber cross-sections, tonal jacquard and mesh texture pairings, laser-cut no-sew seams, silhouettes that enhance the form via body-map inserts, and intelligently placed media ports to accommodate tech devices. The colors Fila played with this time include black, white and teal piranha.
Fila’s leading representative Jelena Jankovic will wear the Platinum Dress that exists in teal piranha and white hues, with contrast straps. There is a bottom ruffle at the back. As for the separates, there are five types of tops and two skort styles. Pictured above is Yaroslava Shvedova wearing the Platinum Halter Neck Tank and Platinum Ruffle Skort. I’m yet to receive a promo photo of Julia Goerges.
The collection also includes a quarter zip top, jacket, 3/4 capri pants and a tote. We will have a closer look at the items from the Platinum Collection when it becomes available at retail.
Additional info: JJ is currently awaiting her final against Kai-Chen Chang at a small WTA tournament in Nanchang, China, and she’s wearing the blue Fila Spring Spirit Triangle Tank with bright yellow back and the matching blue skirt.
Emman Damian, I like JJ’s dress, I don’t mind the lack of color. Plus, we still have to see it from the front.
I love Slava’s kit. For JJ, I’m a bit disappointed. I’m not quite sure of the dress. They could have done better. I hope they make something colorful for Julia. Afterall, it will be for the US Open. Color is a must for this grand slam especially on night matches.
Is this possibly the most boring us open design of all time. No playing around with figure or patterns at all. Fila was so exciting in 2014 now it’s become so uninspiring.
