Fila‘s currently leading WTA names are Jelena Jankovic, Julia Goerges and Yaroslava Shvedova, as you know from my regular fashion updates, and now I’m glad to inform you that the brand’s WTA team has welcomed a new player – world No.413 Jamie Loeb of the United States, 2015 NCAA Division 1 Champion.
The 20-year-old Loeb, who turned pro after a stellar college career at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and who will continue her training at the John McEnroe Tennis Academy in New York, has entered a multi-year partnership with Fila, which will help her financially in chasing her dream in the WTA world.
“Jamie’s strong character and competitive drive make her primed for great success. We look forward to supporting Jamie as we play a role in her journey to fulfill her longtime goal to play on the WTA Tour,” said Jon Epstein, President of FILA USA.
Loeb said: “It’s a dream come true to wear the same brand as so many tennis champions past and present, as I embark on my own pro tennis career.”
This partnership was officially launched today at the US Open, when Loeb played Caroline Wozniacki in the first round, losing 6-2 6-0. Loeb wore the Fila Fall Platinum Asymmetrical Tank in teal piranha and the Fila Fall Platinum Ruffle Skirt in the same color.
I always felt that fila doesn’t have enough representatives to properly expose their collection. Many great outfits didn’t get enough lime light because julia, jelena were loosing too early. Hopefully they sign more players some one like pliskova
Fila needs someone young and top player who can create some exposure to their brand. They have created some great outfits in past few years especially for julia and all of them went unnoticed. Plus it would be great for pliskova to be a face of brand like Fila . Li Ning, I’m not sure i’m impressed with their outfits just like ANTA I feel like something is missing in their clothes
Sru, Pliskova would be a great choice. She’s been a top player for too long now and her outfits are always bland. She’s wearing Li Ning and even though they’ve had some nice designs, Pliskova has never worn those. Actually, Li Ning made my August fashion favorites, with Zheng Saisai: [link expired]
I believe that we will see Jamie more in the future. It’s a good thing major sports brands are now investing on upcoming and rising WTA stars. It’s definitely confidence boosting for a lot of players on tour.
Sru, since ending the partnership with JJ, ANTA seems to have totally lost its place on the tennis fashion map.
Ahh love Jamie Loeb! We interviewed her for TSF a while ago. I am sure she’s gonna do great.
Never even heard of ANTA tbh!
Hope all is well Marija 🙂
Manfred, really, you never heard of ANTA? They used to sponsor JJ for several years.
