WTA stars meet the press In Singapore

After Friday at the 2015 WTA Finals in Singapore was all about the glamorous draw ceremony, the focus on Saturday was on the media as all eight players made an appearance at the All-Access Hour in the Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre.

Meeting the international tennis media, the players had plenty of chances to share their view on the upcoming tournament that will end the season for all but two players as Petra Kvitova & Maria Sharapova still have the Fed Cup final to look forward to after Singapore.

Speaking of Sharapova, the Russian tennis superstar once again stole the show on Saturday. After rocking a beautiful dress on Friday, Sharapova made an usual late entry into the press conference, a rare occurence for the usual punctual Russian.

While the media was waiting for her to appear, agent Max Eisenbud entered the podium to entertain the waiting press. When Sharapova finally arrived, she found her agent sitting in her spot, asking her „Why are you late?“ to which the witty five-time slam champion replied „I had to iron my shirt!“, sending the press room into a fit of laughter.

Afterwards, Sharapova gave her fans plenty of hope on her sticking around for a longer while, commenting that she plans to keep on playing for „a few more years“, stressing that „a few more“ means more than two.

Sharapova will be playing what will hopefully be her first complete match after Wimbledon tomorrow, facing off with Poland’s Agnieszka Radwanska. Earlier in the day, top seed Simona Halep will take on US Open champion Flavia Pennetta, preceeded by the WTA Rising Stars final between Caroline Garica and Japan’s Naomi Osaka.

As you can see, there will be no shortage of quality tennis tomorrow, so keep checking back to Women’s Tennis Blog for all the latest action straight from Singapore!
