When it comes to tennis apparel, Grand Slams are undoubtedly tennis fashion weeks, but since the WTA Finals gather the best eight singles players of the season, every year I like to do overviews of sports clothing at this prestigious tournament as well. In 2015 most players actually continued to wear the outfits introduced a couple of months ago and out of eight players we have two sets of fashion twins.
Top seed and last year’s WTA Finals runner-up Simona Halep is closing the season in her well-known maroon ombre Adidas Fall Adizero Tank, paired with the solar red version of the Adidas Fall Adizero Skirt. It’s the same look the Romanian sported at the US Open. The shoes are Adizero CC Tempaia 3, which are not from the new collection, but rather way back from the Australian Open period.
Angelique Kerber is rocking these Adidas Adizero Ubersonic shoes, created to ensure utmost confidence to aggressive movers. The Adidas Fall All Premium Skirt that the German is wearing has a wide variety of tops that go with it and the German opted for the one with contrast binding around the square neckline. If you look closer, you will also notice engineered stripe on front.
Maria Sharapova launched Nike’s new collection at the WTA Finals and it’s now certain that the life of her lovely black and white US Open dress ended in Wuhan, just as I predicted.
The Russian’s Singapore kit includes the light blue Nike Winter Premier Maria Tank, featuring white spaghetti straps and mesh back, and the matching skirt, which has stylish and functional perforations in the pleats. Nike’s best-selling Winter Featherlight Visor is made in such a way to help sweat dry faster.
I’ve written about Agnieszka Radwanska‘s lace dresses on numerous occasions, as during 2015 the Pole has worn this style in black, blue, red and navy. The Lotto Fall Victoria Dress has definitely been growing on me, as it has spiced up our tennis season, but I believe that it remains one of those “hate it or love it” items.
Garbine Muguruza and Flavia Pennetta are both endorsing Stella McCartney’s Adidas Barricade and even though these separates from the winter collection exist in two versions, both the Spaniard and the Italian went for the darker option, the dark blue with glacial and white vapor Adidas Winter Stella McCartney Tank, unique for its front bib colorblock and nice half-ellipse back cutout, and the paneled skirt that goes with it. We’ve already seen a lot of this style, as many players have worn it in the recent period, while it got most exposure when Pennetta claimed the 2015 US Open trophy in it.
And just like in New York, the Adidas Barricade athletes worked these Stella Barricade 2015 Yellow Glow shoes, focused on giving comfort and supreme stability during aggressive on-court movement.
The other set of fashion twins are Czechs Petra Kvitova and Lucie Safarova in the purple and white Nike combo. The Nike Winter Slam Breathe Tank has a classic cut and is all about being lightweight and breathable, as is the matching Nike Winter Victory Breathe Skirt.
Nike Zoom Vapor 9.5 Tour shoes combine black, grey and purple, thus perfectly completing the outfit, while even more importantly providing responsive ride and safe speed.
What do you say about fashion at the 2015 WTA Finals in Singapore? Who is your favorite? Even though I’m a huge fan of Stella’s clothes, I’ve seen them so many times, so now I’d pick Maria Sharapova and the Nike Czechs as my fashion favorites.

And one final note: All the photos in this article are my our amazing photographer Jimmie48, who has been in Singapore for the duration of the tournament and has been providing Women’s Tennis Blog with all the latest photo updates straight from the courts.
I really wish Nike would retire that spaghetti-strap tank already! I feel like it’s the only style they have, with all the times Bouchard, Keys, Tomlijanovic, and Maria have worn it this entire year. It’s too bad Maria didn’t wear the dress, since it is one of the most prestigious events of the year
Ga, I do like the spaghetti straps, but that black and white dress is a masterpiece and it surely deserved much more attention. I’ve seen it on some other players, but their exposure can’t compare to Maria’s.
Emman Damian, as far as I remember, only Nike introduces new items at the WTA Finals and players continue to wear them early into the following season. Most players launch new designs only at the Australian Open.
I wish next year that we will have variety in players’ outfit in Singapore. It would be nice to have a special dress for it especially for top players.
