The 2015 Fed Cup competition will come to its exciting conclusion in Prague next weekend as the Czech Republic’s capital hosts the nation cup’s finals for the second year in a row.

After playing a successful final against Germany last year, the Czech Republic is looking to defend their trophy against Russia this year. The 2015 final will be the third meeting in the finals of the two tennis countries with the Czech Republic having been victorious in both prior meetings (1988 & 2011).

With 2016 being an Olympic year, the 2015 final features two true all-star lineups, led by Petra Kvitova on the Czech side and Maria Sharapova on the Russian team. While Kvitova has already helped secure several Fed Cup trophies for her home country, Sharapova will be playing her first ever Fed Cup final this weekend, looking to add a major title to her long list of career accomplishments.

Tennis fans will be in for some cracking matches this weekend, as both Kvitova and Sharapova boast impressive Fed Cup stats. While Kvitova has won 20 of her last 22 Fed Cup singles matches, Sharapova has a 5-1 win record, having never been on the losing team in any of her Fed Cup appearances so far.

Thursday was all about practice inside Prague’s o2 Arena, with several players preparing for their final competition in two days time. Before final play gets underway on Saturday, Prague’s city hall will be hosting the event’s draw ceremony on Friday and the final pairings will be decided.
