Back in early 2014, I shared Sloane Stephens’ boyfriend update in my WTA Players and their Love Partners category, when she dated fellow tennis player Jack Sock, but today I ran across a questionable title stating something like “Girlfriend of Jozy Altidore makes the US Open semifinals” and when I googled further I confirmed it that the soccer star is indeed Sloane’s new guy.
There are no photos of the power couple on their social media at the moment, but on Twitter I have found this photo of them together that Sloane had apparently posted at some point in June.
Jozy plays as a forward for Toronto FC and the United States national team. The 27-year-old was born to Haitian immigrants in Livingston, New Jersey and raised in Boca Raton, Florida.
Sloane’s tennis is impressing this fortnight at the US Open, just as in the tournament lead-up period. After an 11-month foot injury layoff that included a surgery in January, the 24-year-old made a return at Wimbledon 2017. On August 7th, 2017, Sloane was ranked as slow as No.934, but back-to-back semifinals at Toronto and Cincinnati saw her jump to No.83, which is the biggest ranking jump of any player during that time frame, and now the run to the US Open semifinals is projected to further propel her to the Top 35.
In the final four of the Grand Slam, Sloane is set to face fellow American Venus Williams and if she wins that match as well, she’ll rise to No.21 in the WTA rankings, while the title would bring her to No.15.
He was in the stands rooting his girl to victory over Sevastova. What a great match it was as was Petra and Venus’ match. Speaking of “girl friends”, there was Kiki Mladenovic sitting in Dominic Thiem’s player box during his meltdown 5 set loss to Delpo. Argggg, I was devastated because I am such a Domi fan! But what a match that was…WOW. But I have to ask…what were in those pills the Doctor gave Juan Martin after he was sluggishly “ill” after being down 2 sets? Give me some of those pills! 😉
What a dumb article title that was ergh, such disrespect to Sloane. That aside, she and her boyfriend are cute.
Wish Sloane and Venus would meet in the final instead, not really in the mood to see Vandeweghe or (what’s looking like) Madison in the final.
They make a lovely couple! It’s so good to see Sloane smile and unleash her winning power on the court again. I honestly think she should keep this relationship private; she seemed to spiral downward after her breakup with Jack Sock. “Congrats, Sloane and Jozy!”
What a cute couple! Match made in heaven! Speaking of Sloane’s tennis, it was a meteoric rise for her. She did a good job over the American hard court swing till this fortnight.
According to today’s article in the New York Times, Sloane and Jozy have know each other since fifth grade.

CORRECTION: Jozy is a professional SOCCER player, not football player. Matter of fact, he’s quite famous and successful in the sport. I’ve recently seen him featured on the front of Wheaties cereal boxes. Sorry things didn’t work out for Jack Sock and Sloane, but it’s a blessing to see her happy in this new relationship and finally winning her first major.
