Maria Sharapova infuses LA’s idyllic vibes into new Nike Cortez shoe

Embracing minimal and understated design, Maria Sharapova created a fresh rendition of Nike‘s signature Cortez shoe, the LA Cortez, inspired by the relaxed side of Los Angeles, in particular by morning walks along the city’s coast.

The pale pink hue and subtle gold details exude a laid-back atmosphere, as the Russian tennis fashion icon aimed to create an off-court shoe that, in a luxurious package, reflects a peaceful and idyllic face of LA.

The California resident explained on Twitter: “The shoe captures everything I love most about the city.”

The Nike x Maria Sharapova LA Cortez is crafted in suede and leather overlays with supreme attention to detail that enhances the classic silhouette. The Swoosh is delicately embossed on the side.

The elegant shoe was launched at Nordstrom.com today, while Nike will have it available on March 2nd, officially releasing the new model with an event at Nike LA (Nike the Grove, 189 The Grove Dr) at 5:30 p.m. where fans will have an opportunity to meet Maria Sharapova and enjoy music and finger food.

  1. Seriously, is there anybody who believes that Sharapova “created” anything about this shoe? She simply put her name on it. ut why bother at all?

  2. Claire, Maria is involved in the design process of her Nike clothes to a great extent. I’m not sure about this particular shoe model, but she does give a lot of feedback in the creation of her tennis dresses.

  3. Is this what she is actually going to play in? If so it is much more attractive than your average tennis shoe. Or is it more of a casual shoe?
