WTA baby news are coming from all over the place! Within a week we’ve had Anna Chakvetadze giving birth to a baby girl, Martina Hingis and Elena Vesnina announcing pregnancies and now Kazakh Yaroslava Shvedova shares that she’s given birth to twins!
The 31-year-old Shvedova famously postponed her wedding which was supposed to take place during the 2015 US Open, but her apparently unexpected run to the doubles final with partner Casey Dellacqua forced her to put her marriage on hold. The wedding did eventually happen with a delay of a few days and she and husband Kostya are now proud parents of twins. Congratulations!
We’ve had many WTA babies in recent years, but multiples are not common. The only other case I can think of is that of Anna Kournikova.
