Honors and celebrations just keep coming in the life of Simona Halep following her perfect performance against Serena Williams in Saturday’s Wimbledon final.
A day after winning her second Grand Slam title, the 27-year-old Halep put on a red off-shoulder dress for the traditional champions photoshoot at the All England Club, as her name was added to the list of Ladies Singles Champions.
Soon afterwards, the Romanian changed into a black deep V-neck dress for the Wimbledon Champions’ Dinner, where she posed together with men’s singles champion Novak Djokovic. Notice the purple All England Club member badge!
Besides a warm welcome at the Henry Coanda International Airport in Bucharest on Monday, Halep’s triumphant homecoming was made even greater by the news that the WTA star will be the Romanian flag-bearer at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. That’s not all, the former world No.1 has earned her country’s greatest honor, Romania’s Order of the Star, as explained in a press release by the presidential administration:
As a result of the extraordinary performance at the Wimbledon tennis tournament and as a sign of recognition and appreciation for the whole activity, the President of Romania, Mr. Klaus Iohannis, has decided to award the highest award of the Romanian State, the National Order Steaua României in the Rank of the Knight, to the tennis player Simona Halep.
