Did you know that two-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka is also into design? On Monday her collaboration with Hanako Maeda‘s ADEAM fashion house hit the runway at the High Line Hotel during the New York Fashion Week.
The 22-year-old Osaka, who describes her style “a bit too crazy for America but a bit too tame for Japan”, has apparently always been into fashion design:
Used to sketch designs in the back of the car during long car rides to tennis tournaments with my big sis to pass the time. Pretty surreal to now say that a collection I drew with my sister walked in New York fashion week… thank you everyone ❤️
The ADEAM Fall/Winter 2020 fashion show attracted a number of celebrities, including actresses Angela Sarafyan, Dove Cameron and Jamie Chung. Here you can have a look at the collection.
Naomi and Hanako are a great match, as they are both Japanese women who grew up in the States. The ADEAM brand was launched in the spring of 2012, offering pieces that infuse art and wearability inspired by Hanako’s two hometowns, Tokyo and New York.
Naomi is not the only tennis star actively participating in the New York Fashion Week. Serena Williams’ S by Serena fashion show is scheduled for Tuesday 9 a.m.
