After giving birth to her daughter Charlotte in 2013, Tatjana Maria has enjoyed a successful career as a mom on the WTA Tour. The German world No.93 has now announced that she’s expecting her second child and told us that she’ll again return to competition.
In an Instagram video where she gives us a glimpse into her private life during this coronavirus quarantine period, the 32-year-old Maria breaks the big news and convinces us that she keeps practicing on her home tennis court, aiming to come back stronger than ever before. We can also see her six-year-old daughter’s promising tennis skills!
It’s good to see that so many players, even in their thirties, are continuing their careers after becoming mothers. Maria, in particular, has made the best results of her career as a mom. After giving birth to Charlotte in December 2013, Maria made the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time at Wimbledon 2015, then reached a career-high ranking of No.46 in November 2017, and won her maiden singles title at Mallorca 2018. Moreover, three of her four doubles titles came after she rejoined the WTA Tour in April 2014.
