Round-robin phase of the Mutua Madrid Virtual Pro completed on Tuesday, with Fiona Ferro, Sorana Cirstea, Caroline Wozniacki and Kiki Bertens reaching the quarterfinals by winning all their three round-robin matches and earning the leading positions in their respective groups.
Besides the four undefeated players, the second-ranked players from each group have also made the final eight: Belinda Bencic, Johanna Konta, Bianca Andreescu and Donna Vekic. Four players are leaving this unusual “tennis” tournament without a single win: Carla Suarez Navarro, Elina Svitolina, Madison Keys and Eugenie Bouchard.

Already on Day 1 Cirstea and Wozniacki established themselves as favorites at this “tennis” tournament and on Day 2 they continued their dominance. Neither of the two had any previous experience in gaming.
Discussing her yesterday’s win over Elina Svitolina where she saved three match points, Cirstea said:
It was an unbelievable comeback… the fact that I picked up a PlayStation one week ago, this means a lot.
Besides saying that she considers Bertens to be the favorite, Wozniacki commented on her own gaming skills:
I just got my PlayStation a few days ago, so I guess I’m a natural.
